General Instrument Care

  1. Wash your hands before handling or playing.
  2. Keep instruments in a case for protection while not in use or during transportation.
  3. While traveling, be mindful of extreme temperature changes.
  4. Do not leave your instrument in a hot or cold vehicle for long periods of time.
  5. Wipe excess rosin off strings when you finish playing. Rosin buildup will cake up strings and affect the sound.
  6. Periodically wipe down instrument with a damp, soft cloth.
  7. Operate tuning pegs once a month to prevent freezing up in the peg box. Don't be afraid.
  8. If you detect that the bridge of your instrument is leaning, it's time to come to Tom's Fiddle and Bow!
  9. You can replace your own strings; however, it is recommended that you replace one at a time to maintain the proper bridge location and to prevent the sound post from falling.
